I’m Penelope, a 20 something who has an immense love for travel and culture. I’m from Houston, but have lived a few places and I currently reside in Brooklyn. I’m a fashion buyer by trade, but a travelista always looking for her next trip.
Travel is an integral part of who I am and what excites me. Waking up in a new city is one of the best feelings there are. Each time I land I’m ready to hit the ground running exploring my new temporary home while simultaneously learning a little bit more about myself. This site is dedicated to other 20 somethings who still aren’t completely sure who they are and where they want to go in life, but are invested in the journey. In the words of Kyoto Escamilla:
“Your 20’s are your ‘selfish’ years. It’s a decade to immerse yourself in every single thing possible. Be selfish with your time, and all the aspects of you. Tinker with shit, travel, explore, love a lot, love a little, and never touch the ground.”
I’m sure you’re wondering what does the name of my blog have to do with travel? Well the name is deeper than just travel. It’s an ode to women, especially women of color, to live their best life and not let fear stand in their way. The lotus flower is the complete embodiment of beauty, resilience, strength, and femininity. As I reflect back on my life and how long it took me to get to this place, I realize that I, like the lotus flower, am resilient, strong, falling in love with who I am as a woman, and finding beauty not only in myself, but in life and I hope to inspire others to do the same. I know I don’t have all the answers, yet I am taking joy in the journey and hoping my feet never touch the ground. Come along with me, as I too try to figure it out.
Peace & blessings,
